Keynote 03 · Strategy That Moves
StrategyLeadershipExecutionDealer networks

Plans into momentum.

Most strategies die after the offsite. People are not connected to the plan, nobody says no to the status quo, and implementation stalls. This keynote is about turning clarity into commitment, capability and momentum.

Best for national dealer and franchise networks, executive teams, SMEs and organisations that need implementation. Thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes. Researched for your industry, your audience and your theme.

The problem it solves

The strategy is fine. It just never leaves the room.

Ask most leadership teams to describe their strategy and they can. Ask them what they stopped doing to deliver it, who owns the next step, and what is in the way, and the room goes quiet. The gap is not thinking. It is follow-through.

Drawing on the turning points and success habits of twelve highly successful CEOs, this keynote shows how leaders build buy-in so the strategy is owned rather than announced, choose the few priorities that matter, and convert intent into movement people can see.

What your audience will learn
  • Build buy-in and trust so that the strategy is owned, not announced
  • Choose the few priorities that matter and say no to the rest
  • Adopt the success habits of leaders who get things done
  • Convert intent into momentum: name the owner, the next step and the obstacle
What they take home

Two levels. Two decisions.

01

One priority in motion

Every delegate leaves with one priority from their own plan named, owned and with its first step dated, so Monday looks different from Friday.

02

One change habit

Each person also leaves with one personal habit from the twelve, the discipline that makes their own plans happen.

Dealer and franchise networks

A room full of owners needs a different keynote.

A national dealer or franchise conference is not a room of employees waiting for head office to decide. Every person in it runs a business, carries the risk, and will go home on Monday to make the plan happen or quietly shelve it. John has keynoted national dealer and franchise conferences for Toyota, B&D Doors, Kimberley Group and O'Brien Electrical & Plumbing, and has been invited back three years running. The keynote is researched for the network, speaks to owners as owners, and pairs the brand's strategy with each dealer's own plan and personal action steps.

Watch John at work
Watch a thirty-minute keynote

Thirty minutes from a live conference stage. John is a storyteller with a strategist's discipline: every story earns its place by moving the audience towards something they can use on Monday. Engaging enough to hold 2,000 delegates, practical enough for a boardroom.

What clients say

"John has spoken at our National Dealer Conference three years running. It is rare to have a business advisor passionate about the issues and who balances changing attitudes with the discipline of personal action plans."

Bruce Loxton
Managing Director
Kimberley Group

"We hired John to assess our culture and help us modernise the way we operate as an organisation. The results were fantastic. Morale is higher and we are working more cooperatively and effectively as a result."

Questions organisers ask

Before you book the slot.

Does this work for a dealer or franchise network?

It was built for one. John has keynoted national dealer and franchise conferences for Toyota, B&D Doors, Kimberley Group and O'Brien Electrical & Plumbing, and has been invited back three years running by one network. The keynote is written for rooms where every person owns a business and has to make the plan happen themselves.

How long is the keynote?

Thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes, built to the slot you have. The sixty-minute version adds a short exercise so the audience leaves with their decision written down.

Does John present virtually?

Yes, on occasion. The keynote works best in the room, and most of John's engagements are in person, but a virtual or hybrid version is available when the program calls for it.

Can John moderate a panel or MC part of the day?

Yes. John moderates panels and MCs the sessions adjacent to his keynote or workshop. Tell him the run sheet and he will tell you where he can add the most value.

What are the AV and staging requirements?

A screen for his slides and a microphone. John brings his own headset mic to pair with the venue's radio pack; a supplied lapel mic is fine, and a handheld radio mic is a last resort.

How far ahead should we book?

Three to twelve months is ideal. Shorter notice is sometimes possible; ask.

What does it cost, and how is travel handled?

John quotes a fixed fee for the keynote once he knows the event, the audience and the format. Travel, transfers and accommodation are billed at cost to the client, ex Brisbane.

What does John need from us before the event?

A briefing conversation with the organiser or program chair, the conference theme, an audience profile and the run sheet. John researches your industry and audience before he writes a word of the keynote.
